SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2008
September 25th, 2008 Posted in Letters from the Executive DirectorAnother school year has begun at The Acorn School. I am very excited to have our new families join us. Please feel free to stop in the office at anytime if you have questions or concerns. Our aim is to be available and accessible to you.
If you are not receiving weekly updates from me, please make sure I have your email address. It is another great way to stay in the loop with all of the great things happening at Acorn.
Remember that The Acorn School is a 501 (c ) (3) organization. There are many ways you can support the mission of The Acorn School. You may know of a grant, employer matching gifts, or other in-kind donations that could benefit The Acorn School. Other ways you can support The Acorn School are:
* Monthly Grocery gift cards (Acorn receives up to a 5% cash-back when you buy gift cards from us)
* Schoolpop.com (Online shopping in which Acorn receives a portion of the proceeds of your purchase)
* Donate your old cell phone, printer cartridges, car, boat, or RV to Acorn for cash that goes back to the school.
* Labels for education through Campbell’s Soup Company. Bring in your labels and Acorn receives school supplies.
* Give to Acorn through your employee matching gift program. Some companies match 2 to 1.
* There are also several Fundraisers that we do at Acorn throughout the year including a summer garage sale, graduation raffle, and holiday bazaar.
Finally, did you know that any Colorado taxpayer who makes a contribution to The Acorn School will receive a credit from the State of Colorado equal to 50% of the gift? This credit is in addition to the donation deduction already allowed on both federal and Colorado tax returns. The credit is available to businesses and individuals, and the taxpayer may carry forward any unused credit amounts. Please consult your tax accountant.
Sincerely,
Matt Eldred
Executive Director
