SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2009
September 14th, 2009 Posted in Letters from the Executive Director
Do you ever feel like the world is going 100 MPH and you can’t catch-up? We have had that kind of a summer here at The Acorn School. “The Sewer of 2009”, the follow through, final remodeling, follow-up with insurance, etc., has been a lot of work and is on the verge of being complete, and it was great to see how everyone pulled together during this. When I reflect on the events of the summer, I cannot help but be very proud of The Acorn School staff, Boulder Valley School District, and the entire Acorn Community for coming together and continuing to provide High Quality Care for the children and families at Acorn. It was truly amazing to watch parents offer their homes, watch our partners at Boulder Valley School District bend over backwards to accommodate us with a facility in less than one day’s time, see Acorn families step-up and offer contractors and volunteer to help put the school back together, and on and on. It truly takes a village to work together for the good of all of our children. Thank you all.
I hope that you will take the opportunity to ask your child’s teacher about how you can get involved in their classroom. Whether as a volunteer helping with projects, room parent that distribute information to other parents, or maybe you want to get involved in our Parents In Partnerships (PIP) program. It is a worthwhile investment in being involved in your child’s growth and development.
Remember our Back-to-school night Tuesday, September 1st at 5:45. It will be a great chance to meet other Acorn families and hear about the plans for the 2009-10 school-year. Hope to see you all there.
Sincerely,
Matt Eldred
